Due to COVID-19 we will not be running any workshops until Spring 2021.
Faux Wood Graining Workshop
There are no dates currently scheduled for this workshop, please register your interest and we will let you know when the next workshop is organised.
This course is designed and structured for people of all abilities to learn a basic understanding of the ancient art of faux wood graining paint techniques and to be comfortable using the paints and glazes used to master them. You will be introduced to acrylic scumble glaze & colourants, and their correct use and applications.
Courses will be run by Simon Nobs, Director of Snobs Interiors Ltd., with over 30 years experience working as a specialist interior decorator and designer. The workshop will start with an overview of the day and a brief history of the paint effect over tea and coffee.
Before starting on the practice boards Simon will give a detailed explanation of the correct use of primers and basecoats to be applied to a variety of surfaces and you will then prepare and basecoat the sample boards. Whilst the boards are drying, Simon will give a demonstration of some of the techniques you will be introduced to. You will then be guided through the different stages used to create professional looking faux wood graining effects, and then shown the correct use of varnishes to protect your work.
The atmosphere will be relaxed and informal and there will be plenty a time through the day to ask Simon questions and advice on anything to do with decorating and design.
The workshop will start at 9.30 am and we aim to finish around 3.30 pm. All students are asked to bring an apron or wear suitable clothing.
There is a maximum of 6 students per course and a minimum of 3 student per course.
10% deposit is required to secure your place on the course, with the balance payable by bank transfer or cheque, before the course starts. Cards cannot be accepted.
Sample boards and other small items will be available for you to practice on.
You will also be provided with brushes, equipment and all the paints, equipment and finishes you might need throughout the day, along with full instruction on their correct use.
Tea, coffee and light refreshments will be available throughout the day. Unfortunately we will not be able to cater for any special dietary requirements or allergies, so you are asked to please bring a packed lunch.
