Workshop Overview

Embark on an immersive journey into the world of traditional decorative arts with our Gold Leaf & Stencil Tea Tray Workshop. Whether you are a complete beginner or seeking to refine your creative skills, this practical event offers the perfect introduction to heritage crafts. Under the expert guidance of skilled artisans, you will learn and master the refined techniques of painted furniture, metal gold leaf application, stencilling, and protective finishing. By the end of the day, you will have created your own decorative tea tray, beautifully adorned with corn and wildflower motifs.

  • Fee: £195 per person

  • Participants: Minimum 3 (for workshop viability), Maximum 12 (full capacity)

  • Project: Learn to use the tools and explore the paint techniques of stencilling, and metal gold leaf application. Take home a finished decorative tea tray of your own.

Workshop Schedule

09.15 - Registration

09.30 – 13:00 - Prepare & paint the base coats

Demonstration and talk covering the correct use of tools, materials, and techniques for painting furniture. Complete the first stage of your painted tray in preparation for the next stage of stencilling.

13:00 – 13:30 - Lunch Break

A well-earned rest and lunch in good company.

13:30 – 15:00 - Stencilling

Apply a corn and wildflower stencil using traditional methods to bring your tray to life.

15:00 – 17.00 - Metal Gold Leaf Application

Learn how to apply the metal gold leaf to the tray’s rim and finish by sealing with varnish for a stunning, professional effect.
